Grinder height
Hi all,
I just finished building a KMG like grinder and am wondering what height most folks have their grinders set to. My setup has the top of the tool arm even with the bottom of my elbow as I am standing. Bob |

Just make sure it's high enough that you don't have to stoop over to use it. I have mine on a raised platform on top the work bench so that the contact wheel is chest high....

Thanks Ray. I'm really familiar with the ergonomics of use a bench vise and filing but I haven't found any good information on best practices for grinding.

Center of the wheel even with your belt. Good rule of thumb for starting position. You can shim the grinder up if it is too low. I use my ample belly for a tool rest and lock my elbows against my sides . It seems to work well

I am in the process of building my shop and plan on using my grinder while sitting. I can't stand in one place too long before my back starts complaining. It's hell to get old... ...Teddy

I have always sat on a stool to grind. I get get much better control that way.
