Working on a camp knife for the project. Will get to use some new tools. Just finished a building a KMG/no weld style grinder, just got my 25 lb little giant adjusted and running right. Thanks for the "heads up" on that deadline.

Thanks Dave |

Okay, I've decided - camp knife, with a twist. Kerambit is out. Now, let's see how many linear feet of steel I can screw up before I manage to make what I'm imagining!

You are ahead of me, mine's still in the grinding/polishing stage, but I'm happy to say the heat-treat went well.

Rough Ground
I have mine rough ground with 50 grit. Just doing to hit it with 120, 220 then 400. Then send out for heat treat or make a run to Todd Begg's or Bill Cottrell's for heat treat. I have another in back up that I am grinding as well that I can heat treat in shop. Going to really get cracking after Blade west. Busy with trying to get some stuff done for that. Dan

Got mine profiled, beveled, and heat treated - all this morning. I need to unearth some canvas micarta, and be sure I've got enough kydex to make the sheath. Tomorrow I should have it all cleaned up from heat treating, finish sanded, and the tang drilled for pins.

Hey Andy........... Can I still get in ?
I have a "camp" knife that was due to go to the sandbox, and I just spent the morning taking the moly coat off (by sanding) cause it was "too big" hahaha. 15 inch's overall. I'm sure I can get a leather sheath done by then, and I'll include the kydex one. Let me know BB |

Knife is done! Amazingly, I'm not scrambling at the last minute on this one. Today or tomorrow I'll get a sheath together for it and sharpen 'er up.

One side done- getting there
I hand sanded the one side last night. Man D2 sucks to hand sand even when not hard! Knife is looking great though. I am going to try and get the other side done tonight or tomorrow and get it heat treated soon! I think kydex is in order for this but I haven't made up my mind yet. Just have to get er done! Dan

heat treated
I got it heat treated today! In the oven right now cooking for 2 hours, then repeat. Should be 60 Rc. I got a great complement today- my grinds have improved (per bill cottrell) no wavy in the blade. For me and a 10+ inch blade, that is hard to do. Someone had better like this because otherwise I will take it back . Dan
I will post pics later. Have to spend time with the family right now. __________________ Life is hard, but God is good!
