I made an edge burnishing tool

Let me tell you about it.
I have some thick brown canvas Micarta (2"). I used a 1&1/2" dia.hole saw to cut a 1&1/4" thick "wheel" from the block of micarta.

I then mounted this wheel on a 1/4" steel rod and chucked it into my drill press. I shaped the face of wheel concave with a round file and sanded it smooth with sandpaper, (120, 220, 320, 400 wet, 600 wet)
I just tried it out on a sheath I made this evening and wowie zowie! You can barely tell the edge is made up of multiple pieces of leather.

I ran the burnisher at about 1100 rpm, didn't push real hard and kept the leather moving.

I could never get an edge this smooth by hand.

Leather burnisher

Drew ,

Sounds like a neat tool ! What radius did you use for your concavity?

Thanks,
joe

I have a file, flat on one side round on the other about 7/8" wide.
What ever the radius is of the round side of that file is the radius of the face of the wheel.
