Finding referred threads/links
okay, I'm an old geezer and need help. Occassionally when reading a subject the author will insert a link to an older thread. When I click to it I get the front page of this website and cannot find or figure out where to find the thread? What am I doing wrong?--THIS HAS GOT TO BE A SIMPLE ONE FOR SOMEONE--thanks, Dan

I'm at a loss.
The first thing I thought was that maybe you were using an older browser that didn't support the transmission of variable information in the URL, which is all the stuff you see after the "showthread.php?" in the URL. If you can see that kind of stuff in the URL you're reading right now, that's not the problem. If you don't see that, maybe you need to upgrade your browser. (In fact, in my opinion, if you're not using Firefox (http://www.getfirefox.com) you should upgrade anyway...but that's another argument! ) |

If the link has "CKD" in it, then it's from the old site and redirects to the main page here (the new site). - Jim

Hi Dan,
Another possibility, is you are looking at a thread that is pointing to the OLD 'CustomKnife Directory' forums, and they are no longer on the server. (These old posts are still to be found but you have to search individually in the 'archives' found at the bottom of the main forum page.) Can you show us a particular thread that this happens to you from? Thanks, Coop |
