I thought mos t of jour job was etched, but I see you working with a micromotor. Could you explain what is it for? Well, in case it is a micromotor an not a simple steel point in a handle. Thanks in advance. Fernando Last edited by fcuder; 01-26-2006 at 05:41 PM. |

Montejano. Beautiful work and fabulous craftmanship!!! Thank you for showing how you work.
Tell me, was the blade soft when you worked on it or was it hardened later? If so, did this affect the gold in any way. I've heard that there is a technique called vacuum hardening where there is no residue left on the surface and nothing can affect the gold. Was that used here? Thanks again, Marcus |

Antonio,
Antonio, I more or less manage in Spanish ( i'm Spanish too!) It would be a pleasure to translate your posts here (most of the times is really difficult to get across using automatic translators). Just contact me and we'll see how we can do it. By the way, your finished work, outstanding. As soon as I can I'd like to paid a visit to the Knife Museum in your town, where, I think, they've got pieces of you (i live around 4 hours drive from Montejano's town). Bye. MONTEJANO
It has been a while since you posted a picture of your work but it is always worth the wait. Thanks for showing how you do it, I'm always amazed at you artistry. Marcus you're right about vacuum heat treating, no oxygen no oxidation. __________________ k bogan |

Marcus, the gold on the knife is gold leaf which is applied as one of the final steps. if you go to the search function and look up Antonio's previous post, there is a more detailed section on applying the gold leaf .
