swith from coal to gas and flux problems

I've been thinking abt switching to gas forge. I use a lot of flux to weld cable and have to clean flux cake out of bottom of fire pot. should I use a Kiln wash on brick to prevent flux from sticking? Any info will be gladly appricated.

If you are using a verticle style of gas forge then you can do as I do and line the bottom of the forge with kitty litter. [You want to use the cheap stuff which is simply ground clay.]

My knife shop is at The Shepherd of the Hills Farm which is three miles east of Silver Dollar City.

Found it cheaper and easier in the long run to make separate forges, vertical for welding horizontal for general blade forging. Kitty litter in the bottom works great on the vert. Just bust up, clean out and replace when needed. I get better heat control while working blades in the horizontal forge.
If you are creative enough you can design it so that you can use the same torch in either forge. Not all that tricky.
