Talking Puukko influenced knife

I didn't post for a while but keep working. Finished this one just before christmas. It's influenced by the straight finnish hunting knife calle Puukko.

The blade is made from 200 layer tungsten tool steel and nickel tool steel damascus. The guard and spacer are from sterling silver, as is the rivet. Handle material is mammoth ivory and steller's sea cow bone.

But unlike a puukko it is ground to the spine, it should have a nice distal taper i like it. Well done.

Thumbs up Re: Puukko influenced

Man, Achim, when you make damascus you don't do it by half measures! What kind of equiptment did you do this on? Tungsten steel must have been one bear to weld and draw out.

Doug, we used manipulators and a 1000 ton fast forge press to weld it and forge it out and a reversing rolling mill to make plate material from it. It was very exciting and we had lots of fun!
