pivot pin

Ok ive built a few folders so far but this ones giving me trouble. Im using the 3/16 pivot pin and ive drilled my hole in the blade to 3/16 everthing is straight and true the pivot passes through the liners but stops in the blade i know the hole has to be alittle bigger so the blade swings on the pivot, any ideas?

thanks bill

Did you ream the hole or just drill it? It's also possible the pivot pin is a thousandth or so oversize in which case you can place it on at a 55 drill bit, start your buffer, let it spin while buffing . Perhaps the pivot hole is the right size on one side of the blade but when it broke through it left a rough edge. Hope this helps. Frank

I've found that the best method for me is to drill the pivot hole in the blade undersized, then use a reamer to finish it out. I've also noticed that the 3/16" pivots that I use sometimes have a very tiny lip right at the end. I simply hold the pivot and sweep a piece of 1200 grit paper around the very end....then it usually fits through the hole.
