Forged paring knife

Here is a new paring knife I just finished for a customer. It is forged out of 1080, is 0.10 inches thick at the ricasso, flat ground, with a hamon and ironwood burl scales.

Thanks for looking,

Yes my wife Lydia is the photographer.

Very clean lines---I like it! Nice work!

How do you get your maker's marks so clean?

Thanks for the comments.

I recently learned what I consider to be the secret to getting your maker's mark really clean. I used to mark my knives as the last process of construction after they had passed my approval. Now I test the edge after belt finishing and before hand finishing. If it passes I hand sand at 220 and then 400. After that I mark the blade and continue with hand sanding 800... If I am etching as in the knife shown I mark right after I etch and then hand polish to my final finish. This eliminates the halo I used to get around my maker's mark and makes everything look nice and neat.

Hope this helps,

Awesome!

Thanks for the details! I guess I should find something better than a sharpie...
