Damascus Lockback

Just got this done, it is the damascus lockback from TKS. The handle is stabilized redwood. I am very pleased with this, it is my most symmetrical efort yet. It looks to me to be dead on even from side to side, even the groove for the lock are true. I also did more work on this by hand rather than machine, hand rubbed to 2000 before buffing, it sure cut the time on the buffer alot and gave me a better finish.
If you haven't done any of the lockback or slipjoint kits, give them a whirl. They are not quite the quality of Darrel's, but they are inexpensive and provide for learning some different aspects to knifemaking. You'll even get to peen, Dennis!!

Very nice!
Nice hand rub job. That the way I like to do them also.
Try the 3000 grit polishing cloth from rio grande.
This paper is not for the faint of heart!

What about a gpc and gx kit with a damascus blade and bolsters.
If we could keep the price reasonable is it a good product for you folks?

Dennis,

Man, that dude looks very sweet.

You know how I judge a kit knife? I ask "is that better or worse than the last $500 dollar custom or production knife I saw?" In your case, the answer is yes!

Well done partner!

Alex

I was considering taking a crack at that very knife some time ago...never got around to it as I was sidetracked ny KnifeKits (but then again, I was once upon a time going to do a DDR-II with a Damascus blade by Darrell...that never happened either...harummmphh).

It looks like you did a fantastic job with it! Makes me want to run to the phone and give TKS a shout...

BigDB-thanks but I was peen this morning right after I woke up...

Dennis

Nice going, Dan! That knife caught my eye when I was browsing a while ago, and now it's really got my attention!

I've REALLY got to peen, too!

Thanks for the great pics and super work!!! Congrats!!!
