Hi Bruce!
I leave my edges fairly thick prior to heat treating, and in some cases with folder blade I harden them before I ever grind. Once heat treating is complete I go to a fresh 50 grit belt and grind to nearly complete, then go straight to a 400 grit, and basically just take out the 50 grit scratches. At first it seems like your not getting anywhere with the 400 grit belt, but it will quickly become obvious of the time savings this method offers. For me its a one 400 grit belt operation......and in some cases with smaller blades, you can get 2-3 blades worth of work out of the 400 belt. __________________ WWW.CAFFREYKNIVES.NET Caffreyknives@gmail.com "Every CHOICE has a CONSEQUENCE, and all your CONSEQUENCES are a result of your CHOICES." |
