O K Who Still Has the First Randall They.....
How many of you still have the very first Randall you ever bought (or got)? Here is my first one . It is an awesome #14 with SS blade, NS #18 style hilt with the thong holes. Black mic BP handle. I purchased it from Capt Chris at a local gun show in about 95 or 96. Man, $315 sure is a lot of money for a knife, I thought. Whodathunk I could get a buck or three more for it now. Only problem, it ain't fer sale!! Alright guys (and Gals) let's see 'em if you still got 'em.

1977 Solingen stainless steel Model 14. I bought it new. Back then the Solingen blade was maybe $10 less and that was a lot of money to me. I think I remember the price with shipping was $69. The knife has seen a lot of use but is still in great shape.
It is the top knife in this PIC. The middle knife is a Mini Model 14 and the bottom knife is a recent Model 14CDT. The 12 Gauge shotgun shells are all brass and made by Magtech. I reload them and the 38 Special rounds with black powder. The sheath is for the Mini Model 14. Jeff Last edited by jclarksnakes; 08-09-2005 at 12:05 AM. |

Here's my first RMK - a #25-5 bought from Capt. Chris in early 1999, at a local gun show.
The black micarta insert is what caught my eye. It was $325-ish. |

I've still got mine. Back about a year and a half ago, I was just starting to get into knife collecting. I had read quite a bit about different knives. I knew I didn't want to go after a bunch of different stuff and I wanted to stick with mainly one brand. I narrowed it down to Randall and Dozier. I read nothing but high praises for both these. Problem was, there was no place I could go to look at them. So I managed to find a store on the web that carried both. It was this little unknown knife store called AG Russels. I'd never heard of them before so I decided to give them a call. Wouldn't you know that they had both Randall and Dozier in stock. I placed an order for one of each. When the knives arrived, it took me all of 1 second to make my decision and here I am several Randalls later. Here is that first one, a pretty standard Model 25-5 with a very nice piece of stag.

This was my first, a 25-5, and still my favorite. I received it from RMK in either 1998 or 99. It is my user for camping/hiking/whatever.

My first purchase was... a Model 6 Carving Set. Of all of my Randalls that I have now, I use that one the most. I do alot of grilling year round, so the set gets great use. As they say... Great Looking Stag!
Bought it from Steve P. at his house. Kent |

My 1st Randall
Hi all!
Good thread here, thanks Byrdguy for starting this one. Fabulous looking first Randalls folks! I received my first Randall in late 2002. Prior to that I had only seen photos on my computer screen and in Gaddis's book. It's a #12-11 "Smithsonian" with a commando shaped leather handle and a brass doubled lugged hilt and butt cap. Upon its arrival from a very reliable eBay seller "sjjp" (coincidentally said Steve P. from whom 2Shot also obtained his first), I had to restrain my eagerness to open the package for fear of slicing myself and spoiling the occasion with an unexpected trip to the hospital. As my incredulous wife looking on, I carefully unravelled the well wrapped "Smitty". When I held the knife in one hand, feeling its solid heaviness, and gazed at the blade, I realized immediately that this was a very special knife. Upon closer examination I saw the careful craftsmanship that had gone into every little detail. I now knew what thee fuss about Randall Made Knives was all about, and ever since I have been hooked. I apologize for these early photos, which does not do justice to this knife which I do still have. Yes, even my better half was impressed! Cheers! I first visited the Randall shop in August 2002,I had read about them in Blade magazine and been on the Nordic website. On the day of my visit I just fell lucky on a couple of #25's in the showcase, the youngish guy behind the counter was really helpful, turned out he was Jason Randall.I bought my #25 and they radiused the butt cap, drilled a thong hole and etched my name all at catologue price,it was only later when I started visiting the forums I appreciated just how lucky I had been that day.I still have that knife and another 24 sitting alongside it,I have never and never will sell any of my collection and can tell you where and when each different knife came from, all of them hold special memories.Sentimental I know but true none the less.NRJ
