What's the verdict on the new CKDF, so far?

Is everyone happy with the new forum software?

Please let us know, Y or N ..

Comments? Improvements needed?

Alex

Alex,
Just got re-registered to the new site. So far, I like what I see. Only one thing I would have changed so far is the user name. I had to post my username as Craig B. instead of Craig Blankenship. I know I shouldn't have such a long name, but....

Anyway, other than that (which is just a minor complaint) I think the new forum will be great.

Thanks for a great forum

Alex, I think it is great, easy to navigate, etc. One thing though, moderator tools show up in the bottom of the wish list forum. And, where is the "Puke" emoticon, how can we not have that.

Thumbs up

I'm loving it. In fact, I'm staying up way too late playing with this thing z-z-z-z.

If I had to nitpick, I'd say that I wish when clicking the Mark this Forum Read link, that it would move me back to the top level of the forums rather than leaving me in the same forum I've just marked as read.

With respect to the emoticons (or Smilies), I miss the little LOL fella.

But I'm not complaining.
  • The speed is great.
  • The forums look great.
  • The software is more powerful and easier to use.
  • Even though I keep forgetting to use the helpful little vB Code buttons, I think it's a really nice touch.
  • We finally have a working search engine, and it works really well.

I can hardly wait to see what other goodies we might end up with in the future.

The speed of transition was excellent. About what we expect from Alex

I had a few moments yesterday when I was getting errors when trying to post or open threads but that seems to have cleared up now.

Roger

Thumps up!

I'm real happy with our new digs! All the features are working, and the speed of the server is *very* noticable. (thanks AV!)

One item I am having fun with is the 'View New Posts' button on the main page. It sure saves time going down the list and checking in. Plus I am finding posts in other forums I might not have looked at otherwise!

At the same time I added a BUNCH of 'subscribed forums' to my 'User CP'.

It's all very clean and refreshing at a time when some of the other Forums are at each other's throats. This is just the interface we need to have new faces stick around. It's familiar, and the content is amazing. Quality and Dignity abounds!

Thanks Alex--you pushed the CKD, and all of us, up the ladder a few rungs!

Now, I feel like a slice of Blueberry pie for whatever reason! I'm off to get some....

Coop

Looks great. Seeing all of the intended features actually work is kinda nice.

One feature I would like to see is after reading a thread, it gets marked as read. After reading a thread and stepping back to the "Tool Time Forum" the thread as well as all other new threads are still marked as new. You have to remember which ones have been read. If it would automatically mark itself read, it would be great. This may be possible but I have not set soemthing up correctly.

Another thing that does not make sense to me is right now I am typing this reply and the window for typing is about half the width it could be. Everything to the right of this window is blank and the window could extend to the right the full width of the page. Again, maybe a setup problem on my end. I use Netscape which is different than a lot of people here but for some reason Explorer locks up my machine and I have to unplug it to get it to reboot (Big pain in the back). So I will have to get Netscape to do the best it can.

Overall, great move to a great place with great living conditions.

Thanks Alex.

Alex, I like it. The search tool working is a real plus. Load time is faster with no hang on knifeseek.com. Other inline links seem to load faster as well. And the time correction, I love it.

The transition was done very well, hats off.

One thing I do notice, in the index, the whole topic box becomes live when the pointer goes over it. The same in the individual forums. Very disconcerting. The anouncments at the top on the other hand, are IMO, working right, just the title itself is live.
