Model 25 5 Blade Dimensions

I have a commission for quasi copy of a model 25. I'm a little bit hung up on the width of the blade (spine to edge). Can anyone provide me this measurement?

Appreciate your help!
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve!

I'm sorry for the delay in responding to your query. I was hoping another member might answer.

The Randall " Trapper", Model #25 with a 5 inch long blade is, I believe one of RMK's most popular knives.

Since "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery", I'm glad one of your customers has chosen this model for you to try and replicate.

Here's some photos of mine when it was brand new way back in 2005. It's a user now:

Now as to the width of the blade from the spine to the edge, at it's widest point it is 1 5/8 inches. Of course thee blades are hand forged and measurements will vary slightly

I hope this helps and good luck with your efforts.

Please be sure to post an image of your finished product!

Cheers!

David

P.S. Geez I love this knife!!!

Hey David, how about a more recent photo to see how it has weathered the use? That's a good looking piece of stag by the way.

Hi Sam!

I'm glad you like the stag. It is superlative!

I'm afraid more recent images of my "user" would show very little difference between those above. This is of course because Randalls stand up to the most incredible abuse.

Seriously, although my #25 is very well travelled and has been carried on my hip countless times, it really has not cut very much. Since I have not been camping for over thirty years, don't hunt, and rely on pocket knives when required, the blade is virtually like new. There are hilt indentations on the sheath as well as a few wear marks, but that's it. Sorry to disappoint.

Anyway, it's a great companion when I'm out in the woods or driving in the country.

I also enjoy hearing upon occasion a stranger ask: "Where did you get that incredible looking knife?"

Cheers!

David

Funny stuff David.
I have only used Randall's that I purchased used already. They are too darn good looking to use. Like off roading a Lamborghini
Fine looking knife though David.

David,
Thanks for the info. This should be an interesting build. I'm using CPM154 and stabilized buckeye burl. Not too traditional for a Randall, but should look and perform pretty well.

Thanks
Steve
