Randall indentification

A friend sent me pictures of a Randall knife that he has and asked for help identifying it and an idea of when it was made. Sadly I don't know much about Randall knives so I am asking for any help you guys can provide.

Hi Barry!

Welcome to the Knife Network!

Judging by the blade profile and the "L S" stamped on the back of the sheath, I believe that this knife was made by Randall for artists Leonard Leibowitz and his wife Shelley Shaw to be used as a "canvas " for embellishment. See an example of their outstanding work here:

Obviously this knife was never worked on by the couple. However, it makes for an interesting piece.

Cheers

David

Thanks David! Any idea when it might have been made? Or is there anyway to know?

Hi Barry!

You are most welcome!

With regard to pinpointing when the knife was made, my educated best guess would be any time between 1978 and 1982.

Hope this helps.

Cheers David

I have several of these knives, including the "PROOF" version with all of the provenance to go with it!
