what kind of knife is this

my grandfather passed away away and we found this knif and are wondering what type of knife this is and if it has any value i cant figure out how post a picture so i am going to give a description. the knife appears to be a pocket knife but the blade has to be slid out in its closed position opened and slid through the wooden handle there is a locking mechanism on it where you push down on a piece sticking out the end and allows it to slid out we think it may be English because my grandfather was from England the knife does not have any markins or logos.
thank you for reading this
cole
P.S
if my description was not clear please ask any questions you need to or better yet tell me how to post pictures
thanks again
cole

Sounds like a Barrel knife.

And to post an image you copy the link for the picture itself and then put [ img] before it an [ /img] after it (wihout the spaces)

Or I believe there is an upload function somewhere in the area to post.
