1x42 Belts - The where how and what nots.
I've bitten the bullet and order the Kalamazoo grinder..
I am looking for advice on 1x42 belts. Can anyone let me in on some do's and don'ts? Heh. I sent to school in Kalamazoo Michigan.. |

Ed
120 grit works good for roughing. 200-300 for semi finishing. 400 for a nice satin finish then 600 -200 for hand rub depending on the material you are finishing. Carbon fiber finishs best (tacky finish) at 400-600. Ivory, pearl , bone, etc up to about 2000. The bolster and frame 400-600 satin finish works great. After sanding 600 you can use a buffer and compound to get a mirror finish. Darrel |

Thanks for the feedback.
Any brands in particular to use/stay away from. I assume you get what you pay for?. The cheaper it is the quicker it wears out of is not spliced together properly? |

Ed,
Most belts that I have seen in the 1 x42 work well. They all last about the same. The kalamazoo runs at a slower speed so high end belts are not really needed. Darrel. |
