Most Used Knife

Hi Gang,

Just thought I'd ask what is the knife you use the most?

Is it a fixed Blade or a folder?

What do you use it for?

Well for me, I have a EDC folder thats with me everyday all day and gets a lot of different use but the knife that I use the hardest and makes life easy would have to be my Elk Skinning knife. That job is no fun without a great knife.

I have a Schrade Uncle Henry with one blade reground after I broke it. (Yeah, I know it's not a screwdriver - now.) Bought it back in 1979. Carry it almost every day unless I'm going to the airport.

My personal pocket knife is a Queen slim Trapper #11. I convexed the blade and keep it like a razor all the time. i use it for everything at the shop.

I used to carry a Barry Wood folder. Had that for so many years that the blade is gettin' kind of small. I've been savin' my pennies to buy another Wood. Maybe I'll get myself a Christmas Present.

I like to carry a big single blade folder. In my pocket now is a 60's era sodbuster. I like to trade off between it, my old cheeta and my case folding hunter.

Folder covers all of my chores. It's there for whatever task I need. The vast majority of the time, opening boxes, cutting string, tape, paper, envelopes. The extreme boring end of tactical or for us civilians - utility.

Microtech SOCOM.
Big enough, heavy enough and easy to carry, along with a lock I actually trust my fingers to.

But a BRK folder would be great!

I carry a variety of fixed blades but the one knife that is always on me is a Spyderco Delica. Regardless of what I'm carrying that blade is clipped in my pocket. Been toting it around since 1998.

Mike,

Thanks for the tip.

I'll get a hold of him. Those are the safest folders I have ever used. With the lock all in the front ,you can fit a really large blade inside the handles. They have the best blade to handle ratio that I have ever seen in a folder.

Thanks again,

Mike........

Good question. The knife that is always in my pocket is my Victorinox Classic. Not as sexy as my CRKTs or Spydercos but it gets used over and over every single day. They can even open a bottled beverage sometimes but you gotta be careful. I have carried one since the early 80s. The only time its not in my pocket is when I put it in the suitcase to go on the airplane.

Most Used Factory Knife

Although I have and use around 50 knives, the one that I use the most is my Camillus Dominator.

The knife that I've used the most is my Spyderco S30V Military PE. This bug has seen ALOT of use in food prep, opening packages/boxes, cutting rope and heavy mudflap rubber(at work), along with any other cutting chores that pop up.

I find that I carry my Benchmade 940 CFD2 most often. The reversible clip and Axis lock make it an ideal lefty knife. The slim, carbon fiber handle fits my hand well, is unobtrusive in the pocket and doesn't "eat pants" the way that G10 or other materials sometimes do. It also has probably the highest blade length/sheeple friendliness quotient of any knife I own. You know, I just made that up on the spot. I think that I'll start ranking all of my knives by the "BL/SF" quotient.

Later,
Jim
