first knife on new Coote grinder
Ok, here is my first knife on the new Coote grinder and I found out the one thing makes a KMG better, like my little 1"X30", you can look straight down on your work. So, anyway, this thing rocks . After I got used to it and got my stool set at the right height, I had no trouble getting into it. I think I ordered the wrong type of 3M belt  because the ones I got were too stiff and way too abrasive . Once I did the initial grind, nothing I did would get out those gouges , but I know better now and I actually had some cheapie belts from Pops that were loads better and way more flexible, I will have to be careful next time I get belts. The knife is 8 3/4" long with a 5 1/4" blade, 5"cutting surface, 5/32" O-1 tool steel with wenge wood handles and brass pins, 1/8" and red vulcanized spacer material, thenks for looking and hopefully they will get better with time. You can see pics of my shop setup in tool time forum if anyone is interested, thanks, Mitch

Thanks for sharing your journey to choosing your grinder, and the follow up on how it is working out for you. Looks like you made a wise choice. Looking forward to more knives and pics.

Thanks for looking, guys and for the comments, I guess it will always be like this, but it seems that though the knives are getting better, there always seems to be some little something I wish I had done better.

I like my coote! If you use a little imaginaton you can use belts from 60inches up to 78 inches Only requires drilling a couple of holes. 60 injch belts are often on ebay at good pricers.
