Wrought Iron san mai neckers!!
Hi everyone,
I finished up two wrought iron san mai neckers last week but just got around to taking some pictures of them today. I posted this on another forum, but thought I'd share it with my fellow GCKG members. I will say that this was my first time working with wrought iron. It is ridiculously soft when forging, like modeling clay soft, which is cool until you try to do some san mai..... Anyways, here they are They are wrought iron and 1084. I forgot what type of wood that is, it is something I have had for about a year. The pins are nickel silver peened and then sanded flush. (excuse the hairs on the blade in this next one ) I will be bringing these the the next guild meeting so ya'll can see them in person, which is always better than pictures. Well, what do ya'll think/ -Adam |

I think those look great. You are going to have to tell me how to do that.

Nice Adam. Guess you found out that the biggest trick to WI is getting it hot enough and working it hot.
You not coming up to Trackrock this weekend? They look like they need closer inspection. __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |

Thanks guys,
Carl, I wish I would be able to get to Trackrock this weekend, but thanks to my property tax bill extra curricular funding is low right now. I will be at the guild meeting though. -Adam Last edited by Adam Reese; 09-26-2012 at 06:33 AM. |

Been there, feel the pain. Hate I'll be missing the Guild meeting in Oct. It's on my b'day so I have other plans (so I'm told). You'll have to demo your technique at one of the meetings. Be glad to assist.
