Help with a name
Hey guys,
One of my projects for the Guild is to begin to put together an "electronic" newsletter. Which is a fancy way of saying it will be posted on the Guild's website for downloading and reading. This should be a good way to begin to generate some interest in what we are trying to do in Georgia. Only think is I am not very creative so I am sort of stuck. Could you guys help me with a name for this newsletter. It would be good if it sort of encompassed the spectrum of knifemaking. I'd offer a prize for the winning suggestion but.... Well, the winning suggestion will be highlighted in the first issue. How's that for a prize!! See you on the 28th at the meeting in Conyers! Joan |

Encompassing the spectrum of knifemaking, huh? How about "Cuts and Burns" or "Curses and Swears"?
Seriously, my submission is "The Cutting Edge". (I do, however, find it hard to believe that some other knife organization wouldn't be using that name. ) |

"Cuts and Burns" hum, reminds me to much of the Guild Show in Orlando a couple of weeks back. I was there with John helping him, in my graceful way, to set up his table. I asked to use his knife to cut a string on the table cover--me and a knife was the first mistake. I managed to cut myself on the top of my finger to the bone. When I realized I culd not use a regular "Veggie Tales" bandage to stop the bleeding, I wrapped my finger in a washcloth and went to the Customer Service Desk of the host hotel to gather info--like did they have a first aid kit and where was the closest clinic if I could not get the bleeding to stop. With my finger wrapped and red edges showing, the poor girl at the desk became a bigger wimp than me--and that is saying a lot.
But the folks at the hotel security were very helpful with helping me wrap it cleanly and splint it firmly enough to give it time to seal off and I was none the worse for the wear. But I think I'll pass on the "Cuts & Bruns" |

Hi,
How about the "Rusty Blade"? Actually, I think "Sharp Moments" or "The Sharp Gazzette" has a nice ring to it also. Next time you volunteer as a sharpening stick, try butterfly bandaids in YOUR first aid kit. Creation Point
"CREATION" for the creative abilities of the people in knifemaking and "POINT" referring to the "Pointy End." "Cut Above" "Inside Edge" "Ricasso News" "Tang Talk" "Grind Group" "Knife Knews" "Kustom Kuts" "Grindstone" "Profile" "Knife Knowledge" It is late and some of these will probably sound really stupid in the morning )and I may have to edit it to save face) but a few to think about. They are all better than the name I would give a newsletter if I wrote it. "FAT MAN GRINDING" Got about 8 hrs of welding tomorrow, gotta go. |

Keep the suggestions coming---none are to silly---and this comes from a girl who manages to cut the TOP of her finger to the bone when she is bearing DOWN to cut a string. I actually like some I am hearing. Grand prize winner will be decided at our next Guild meeting August 28 in Conyers at the Hensleys' shop.

Hi, Joan---A nice title that would be appropriate for a knife being used in our lovely state would be "Sliced Peaches, Knifemakers Dessert" The title would refer to the info given and the location from which it came----Will again try to make it to the meeting----Sandy
