One of Mandi's Wedding Gifts

As most of you know, my daughter Mandi is getting married on December 27th. I've beeen working on a couple of projects that I hope will make the event even more special.

I've just about finished up the first project....a queen size headboard. To be completly honest, this was a difficult project for me, mainly because it's more a fabrication, then a blacksmithing project. My style of building things is "traditional", while Mandi likes the "modern/contemporary" look. I had to fight myself the whole way....I kept wanting to forge out scrolls, leaves, vines, etc. But Cindy kept me on the "right" path.

The posts are solid Cherry. The main "beams" are 2" square x .120 wall tubing, with everything else being 1" X .120 wall tubing. The "U" at the top was my "touch".....tubing that I forged in the "U" shape (Mandi's new last name will be Ufferman) and peen textured.

All that remains is to attach the brackets for the frame (the paint on those are drying right now)

The Cherry posts...stained/sealed, and drying:

The "structure":

The initial bolt up and fitting/leveling:

Ready for the brackets:

The "U" for Ufferman:

The second of the wedding projects is on the bench.....a fully Titanium wedding cake set, including a forge titanium servering spatula......I'll post pics of those when they are complete.

Nice work Ed, I remember Cindy sharing the book of your other beds and blacksmithing projects. What a beautiful gift!

Best wishes for the happy couple!
