Fishing season begins
Well we had a chance today to try out a few knives we built. The 2 guides, Al and Trigg went fishing today and brought home a few fish. Al was able to catch a 37 lb spring salmon to an extra bonus. He made a few knives as well to use for the summer. I built one for Trigg as well. They seem to work well so far.

Oh yeah!
Hi Jim,
It's been years and years since I last caught something like that and it wasn't even edible! The Hackney clan men did a fishing trip to the gulf about 15 years ago and I caught a Jack Caravel (?) that was about 35-40lbs that about killed me reeling it in.....then they told me it was basically a bait fish How are we going to concentrate on work now that we have seen these pics ! BTW: I got some scopolamine ordered from the doc yesterday. This is supposed to be the best stuff out there for sea-sickness - least side-effects of all these types of drugs......I don't want to be the designated "chummer" on board. Thanks for the pics, Jim! Dana,
Cindy and I had lunch together today, and were talking about the trip....she is worried to death about getting sea-sick, and is even worried that the sea-sick patches will mess her up. I have a few left over from last year, and am going to try to get her to put one on for a day or two and see what happens. Ya gotta remember....Cindy gets sick playing video games on the computer!! After my experience last year...thinking I was going blind....I'm gona give it a go without the patches....so who knows, I just might be the one "chumm'in"! __________________ WWW.CAFFREYKNIVES.NET Caffreyknives@gmail.com "Every CHOICE has a CONSEQUENCE, and all your CONSEQUENCES are a result of your CHOICES." |

I had some scopalamine patches a little while back. They made me pretty much blind. I could kind of see things at mid distance, where my eyes just naturally looked if I was totally relaxed. But my far vision and especially my close up vision was absolutely shot. I couldn't read a thing even with large print and couldn't make myself focus for anything. The doc took me off it.
He said about half the folks that get it experience those side effects and half don't. If you do have them, the worst part is you're a day or two into the trip before the set in and it takes 3 or 4 days to clear your system. Dana, I hope I didn't rain on your parade and I really hope they don't affect you at all. I guess what I should say is that it does go away if you do have the side effects. Best of luck to you and happy fishing to all that are going. __________________ John Doyle You have nothing to fear but fear itself...........and bears. |

more fish
Dana
If the ocean is like it was today you won't need anything. I guess the water was like glass today. Supposed to be like this for next 3 days. Ed thought he needed to get his eyes checked when he got home but we read the package and it is defiantly a side effect. Hope you won't need them. We can always fish close to shore for the ladies if they prefer that. Here is a pic of the guys first day catch. Jim Last edited by boatbuilder; 03-23-2011 at 09:54 PM. |

Awesome!
Nice catch, Jim! I can hardly wait to sink my teeth into some of that fish !
We did opick up our prescriptions for scoploamine (ouch! $50 with the discount) so we'll have it on hand just in case. If it's smooth sailing I'll forgo the meds. I'd like to be able to see what we catch. Thanks Jim for the pics! Dana |

The ladies are going to prefer that you take 'em to the fish. If you start a pool, bet one of the wives catches big fish of the trip. Safe time up there, Craig |

Next group's Catch
We have another group of fisherman in for 2 days. They are from New Zealand, Demark, England, and Alberta. The fellow from Denmark, Niels caught a 37 lb spring salmon on his first day out. They also caught other salmon and tons of ling cod, snapper, black bass, vermillion and 1 halibut.

Ed, Dana, If you guys are worried about getting sea sick, have you tried (Marezine).
It works pretty good and does not have the side effects of the patch you are using and does not make you as sleepy as Dramamine. I use Marezine when I go fishing off the washington coast near the columbia river. I take one when I go to bed the night before and one the morning I head out on the boat and I do great. This is an over the counter and alot cheaper then the patch your using Its worth a try. Good luck and have a great trip. Your photos of your catch are really nice and make me jealous. |
