a drawer for steel

How do you store your steel?
I have been thinking of building some drawers to keep the steel in. Most of the steel I buy has a max length of 36" so a 37" wide drawer should do it. Any suggestions on the drawer build.
Thanks
STeve

I use bicycle hangers. Those big hook looking things you screw into the wall in your garage, to hang your bike on the wall. I have them screwed into the ceiling joist of my shop. I have all my steel hanging from the roof.

I took a piece of 4X4 steel tube, thin walled and cut it into 2' pieces and welded them all together vertically, then added some shorter ones. My steel stands up in these holders against the wall of the shop.

We have an interior wall in our grinding room that isn't finished. We added a few strips of board to keep the steel from falling out and just stand the steel up between the studs according to type.

Keeping 3 foot sections is fairly easy, it is keeping the 3 inch pieces that is driving me.

Steve,

I picked a drawer set from a shop up-grading to paper rolls for their plotter. They are used for storing 36" X 24" drafting paper and are approx 38" x 26" x 2" deep and in a stack of 6 drawers. Can't quite get a 4 footer to fit corner to corner.
