Jewelry fron Knife Scraps
As many of you already know, I am a tight ass!!!! And a hoarder....
I can never seem to get myself to throw away all those little pieces of Damascus and Ivory. So, Now I have decided that I should try my hand at making something out of some of it. Jewelry is what I am calling it!! Maybe that is a bit far fetched, but I had to call it something!!!  Let me know what you think. The Ivory pieces are all cut and carved from Mammoth ... Those look great!
A couple of years ago I was at one of the area gun shows, and there was a knifemaker there who displayed some of his knives and damascus bar stock. We talked a while, and I recall him telling me that he made more money selling his damascus billets to jewelry makers than he did to knifemakers.

WOW Steve! Far fetched my butt! That stuff is really NICE! Guess what Ed's gona be doing over the weekend?..... Yep! gathering up all those little damascus scraps that I've been hording! Maybe I can make some stuff like that and take it to that show in Feb! You'll be getting a Thursday morning call so I can pick your brain!

Thanks for showing the jewelry Steve, and absolutely terrific job. I know things can get heavy pretty quick, but I've thought about making a couple small 'scrap' Christmas ornaments also.

I figure if we all make a few little things like these and give them to our wives and their friends. It could go a long way towards getting our butts out of the proverbial forge!! I had already planned, before reading this thread, to spend a half day at the hammer mashing bits and pieces of PW steel into useable pieces. Thanks for the good ideas, Steve.

This a realy cool idea. I know another guy that has been making damascus jewlery, so I started making some a couple of months ago and never finished it up. I just might do that now. Yours looks pretty awsome Steve. Way to be. Thanks, Shane

Looking good Steve and Robert!
Years ago I used some of my scraps for making jewelry and took them to knife shows with me a few times to display them. Ended up selling them all which surprised me. I found out that there are a lot of women that come to knife shows with their man that really don't have an interest in guns or knives....they are just going along to keep him company. Putting something out there that they are interested in gives them something to buy for themselves. Who knows, they may start off buying ivory and damascus jewelry then end up finding themselves more interested in the knives themselves too.

I think the term "resourcefull" is a more fitting term for your use of
the left-overs. Very, very nice Steve. Have you sold any of these pieces yet? I would imagine these would be some hot items this time of the year. Thanks for showing these to us. Dana
