First 2003 Folder

A few additional pictures added, below to show backspacer/filing and a not so good closed position photo showing the very small blade extension serving as the flipper.

A new folder, Falconet, nearing completion in the first few hours of 2003.
-2" D2 blade, 2 /2" closed
-Heat colored Thunderforge damascus scales and backspacer
-anodized Ti frame
Thanks to question earlier raised by Bob Warner and tips from Tim Herman, this model eliminates a thumbstud or stop pin.

And, I particularly appreciate Tim Herman's sharing his backspacer stop design from an earlier posting when Bob Warner asked why a stop pin was needed with a full backspacer.
Today wasn't a good photo day, but I have added two more to the post; backspacer and closed position.
I'm fighting with this filework pattern to try to get perfect circles at the junction of the backspacer and liner - looks like I need more powerful optivisors and smaller files.
The flipper is a very small extension of the blade, which I hope you can see in the photo - my objective was to have it as small as possible, while still providing for very smooth opening, which did work out well on this tiny folder, and should work even better on larger sizes.
As I reduced the photo resolution for transmission ease, the scale colors have lost some of their clarity, and I hope you can visualize them with more clarity than my camera skills provide.
I'm trying to obtain an organic and fluid look with flowing lines and colors within the damascus twists. The gold tip, by the way, was intentional as I was thinking of a stinger, before concluding the overall knife looked more like a tiny bird of prey.
Now that the miniature prototype is nearly done, I'll move on to a few larger versions, and a few with good damascus blades.

maybe a diamond ball-head bit in the motor tool - working on the spacer/liner clamped together? should be easier to center than trying to get the same depth on each separate piece with a file and it would be round.

That's a nice looking folder, very sleak. I looked at some of your work at the last NCCA show. I live in mass and am also a maker, I just put up a post of a folder I finished last week.
