Anthony, I think you told it straight. Camillus is moving forward, and I agree that the Tactical market has legs for them. I don't even like the name Zytel, but it is a cool little auto-assist for that price range. I figure that's the trade for the plastic, but I think better handles would be a great revision to the knife.

Very cool knife at a very cool price will make this a hot seller.
I would like to see a version of this knife with an updated lock design as well as new scales.

It seems that G-10 or CF scales are all it would take to move this substantially upmarket. Hope they offer a variant...

That was a pretty straight forward write up. Even in regard to the similiarities between the asisted openers. There has been some subtle and sometimes not so subtle discussion about this. I am glad that it appears to be put to bed.

I think you are right on about this knife being better than the Dominator. I told Darrel that exact thing the night he showed me the prototype. I can live with the plastic feel to the handle. Although I would like to see it improved, if it coulds stay at the same price point. My only real gripe about the Heat or the Dominator is the little protrusion on the handle where the blade stop engages. It seems to hang up on my pockets. Annoying. Darrel told me why it's there. However, even he has come to agree that it could probably be removed. I tested this with a Heat and ground it off. No ill effects with lock up or changing how the lock engages.

I think Camillus has a major hit with the Heat.

I do think the knife will do well in the market place.., but also that G10 would be a great upgrade, and not to tough on the MSRP dynamic.

Slick little knife, but I'm not thrilled with Zytel either...
