"Topping off": Randall "fighter" building project, stage #4

All involved,
The final stage of our "building" project involves "options" for the Randall model #1-7". stainless knives we are putting together. Hilt material and shape, spacers, butt cap and shape, wrist thong, sheath type and color (tan or black). I think, in order for everyone to voice their opinion, we should let this thread run a good week.
Just as a reminder, we are "building" "2" fighters. One will have a micarta handle, which you folks will decide what "color" micarta in this thread. The majority decided this handle shape should be "border patrol. The other fighter will have a leather handle. The majority seemed to pick the "commando-shaped" handle as their choice. So let's begin: I did such a fantastic job of countin' the tallies on the last stage (3rd floor) of this building project, that I will defer to the moderators to tally up this one!
Good luck: Keep it civil: Let's "top off" these building projects! Best for now, Captain Chris Stanaback

Green micarta

For both:

Brass double hilt (tactical, N/S is too shiny), forward curved

Brass radiused butt cap

Wrist thong

No hone sheath

sheath and spacer color - don't care

Another vote for green micarta. Brass double hilt, standard shape. Wrist thong. Brown model A sheath with hone pocket. Brass and black spacers.

Question: Does a border patrol handle have a butt cap?

If so, brass butt cap, rounded edges. No Nutt!

O.K.,
Brass or any other butt cap "IS" available with a porder patrol handle. No exposed tang nut on "any" Randall, except in leather handles...No exceptions! Tom: Ya' sure you mean nickel-silver butt and not duraluminum butt? Nickel silver, besides being 40 bucks is quite heavy on a 7" knife. It is doable...just heavy.
Good discussion, so far. Keep it up. Best, Captain Chris Stanaback

I'm with Azgator on the micarta one, but on the leather one, I'd like to see a brass radiused cap with exposed nut. (makes for a good skullcrusher)

I think black micarta BP handle, with brass and Al spacers, wrist thong, foward curve brass hilt, with a brass "cap" butt. I like the model A black sheath.

Leather standard is ok with me, i.e. brass hilt, Duraluminum butt, type A brown sheath.

OK, Captain, 'talked me into it, duraluminum , and the cap nut on the leather one too.
And I mean't to say tan sheath with the leather knife.
And brass/black spacers on the leather.
And aluminum/black spacers on the micarta.

No wonder you have a tough time keepn' up with all this!

Tom,
I ain't trying to "talk ya'" into anything. If you want and meant nickel-silver on the butt cap...Cool Deal, dude!! It will be heavy, just as brass will be heavy. The difference between the 2 is the fact that you can order brass butt caps "thin" and rounded" to take a little weight out of them. Nickel-silver butt caps "can" be rounded and a wrist thong drilled, but they cannot be ordered "thin". All of the above changes the overall "feel" and balance of the Randall. Just more to think about.
As for the exposed nut on leather..That's one reason to argue for a different handle, but we are way past that, at this point. I have tried to stay out of it, except for reminding foks of one thing or another. I like exposed nuts on butt caps, even stag, etc., but of course they are "only" available on leather nowadays. More to think about: Best, Captain Chris Stanaback
