Blade makers - Brisa
I was on Brisa's site looking for a Puukko blade and became very overwhelmed with the choices of makers. If one lacks a lifetime of experience, or refuses to do hours of internet research, how does one go about making an educated decision on a blade maker? I wouldn't mind spending a little extra money for a blade so long as it was quality steel. I would like it to have some value upon completion if possible.
I kind of like the initial appearance of these- https://www.brisa.fi/portal/index.ph...ex&cPath=94_31 , but after a few minutes of searching on the net couldn't find much of anything about them, nor the overall quality of the metal being used. Sooo where does that leave us? I could ask Brisa, but they're closed, I'm impatient, and there is nothing guaranteeing me that their answer will not contain bias toward a blade that reaps them greater profits. Please offer any advice. Thanks Chris PS now that I have my knifing itch back I'll go update my user profile. __________________ ?The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering.? First of all Brisa doesn't make blades. They are a dealer just like Jantz or USA Knife Makers Supply. Some of the lines that they carry are by some of the top blade manufactures in Europe. A little searching on some of their lines does tell what steels that are used by some of their suppliers in their American equivalents. What what I've heard, they are well trusted by those who like to build scandi kits or finish scandi ground blades into finished knives.

That is not the only steel that is used to make the blades that they carry. I spotted O1, D2, and something that looked like 1080, as well as stainless. You just have to go through by each manufacturer that they list and see what steels that they use. Ordering a catalog might not be a bad idea if you are interested in this type of blade.
