New Project
I have decided instead of assembling a slippie kit knife with ?special formulated stainless steel? I would get a Schrade Old Timer 34OT with proven good old fashion 1095 carbon steel, disassemble it and use it for my ?kit? to customize my first slippie. I have some questions though I hope someone can help me with.
1. Are adding half stops as simple as just grinding a flat on the tang ? 2. What?s a good technique for adding some threads to the bolsters? 3. Is it necessary to first totally disassemble the knife in order to pin on new scales or is there a process you guys use to install pin material without disassembly? I am looking forward to my project with the help from all of you. Thank You, Jeb |

Hey Jeb, welcome! I'm going to be the first to show my ignorance here, but I 'm not sure what a "slippie" knife is. Is it a folding knife, like a slip joint type?
I'm also not familiar with the Schrade model number you said you got, so I'm still not going to be of much help. I'd like to help you, and among the gang who regularly hangs out here, we might be able to come up with some ideas. But enlighten me if you would please as to what kind of knife you are referring to. Once I know, I might be able to give you some suggestions. We'll do what we can to help out. |

You might want to check out the "kit knife forum" or the Folder Forum... Not trying to run you off just point you in the right direction.. __________________ "NT Truckin Aardvark Montgomery" www.geocities.com/montyforge/index.html |
