A quick search of the threads on the Newbies Forum found a replay to that much asked question that said and 8" wheel would be good for a grind of about .7 inches and that is about half the width of your steel and should do fine for a double edged grind.

'About' is all you can do since most of us only have 8" or 10" wheels, maybe both. I have ground that same blade on a 10" wheel and also on a 5" wheel. Both worked fine. The difference is that the 10" wheel grind appeared very close to flat because it was so shallow while the 5" grind was much more obviously hollow.

Bottom line: with a little practice you can use almost any wheel you might have for almost any knife that could reasonably be considered to be of a 'normal' size...

Bernie.

I may open a can of worms with this but I feel that the radius of the grind is subjective as to what is best. Unlike most, I use a 14" wheel on all blades because I feel it is an excellant complimise between the cutting of a hollow grind and the strength of a flat grind. Past threads have even debated as to which cuts best, flat or hollow grinds. Probably you need to decide what is more important as to how that particular blade will be used, the cutting ability or strength and make your decision accordingly.
