Finishing blade blanks

I am now I am starting a blank comando. My handle will not cover the end of the handle leaving the lanyard hole and maybe 1/4' of bare metal. I have minimumal tools so far and what to know the best way to smooth and polish this area. I will want a satin finish. What are your collective suggestions? Thanks, Hop

My suggestion would be to mask off the wood or micart with tape and then glass bead blast the metal parts.

Scotchbrite, using the light grey (about 800 grit).
