Steel is awesome!

Two VEGAs: A CPM 154 '12' in mirror finish, and an etched 1095 Utilitac.

I just love the grain structure that the FC reveals in 1095.

great looking blades!

thanks for posting this.... ive been doing mostly stock removal with Damascus, but reently forged one from a file. after heat treating to produce a hamon, and a short bath in the FC it showed that same texture... nice to see that its suppose to look that way, and I didn't screw it up.

For revealing grain structure with an etch, it's hard to beat 1095 and a 50/50 mix of FC and distilled water.
