Hi Stacey,

That thread is almost 6 years old. Wow! The memories.

Anyway, what type of file depends on what type of filing you need to do and how much material needs to be removed. If you are working on a forged blank, the first question is, how much was forged? If it's just a rough shape that you need to remove a lot of material to refine the lines and then file in the bevels, then get a good quality double cut to do the heavy removal, then a single cut to draw file and smooth things up before going to the wet/dry paper.

I was doing some cleaning and found my old corn dog fryer. As much as I like corn dogs it's just right for a quench tank.

hey brock those ar really good lookin blades, looks like alotta blisters! so you did all the bevels by hand?

its pretty much a blank, he shaped it somewhat, but needs alot of filing, i love working on it, but thats the kind of tips i was looking for, thanks. i will keep going and get a pic on here
