Will This Work?????
OK, I have a bar of star twist damascus made up its 1 1/2 x 1/4 x 15
what Im wanting to do is make up a billet to make a hawk from. Can I cut this into say 5 3" bars, rewld, then twist again? What Im shooting for is that the twist will help the welds not shear during the drifting operation. Am I going about this wrong? ANy better suggestions? Also, will I have large and small stars by doing it this way? Thanks Guys Mike __________________ "I cherish the Hammer of Thor, but I praise the hand of God" |

Sounds like an interesting hawk. I would drift it at almost welding heat. If all your welds are sound there should be no problem. A tight twist probably puts as much strain on a billet as any thing. mike
