Lloyd, incredible workmanship.
I read the article on you in KI along with the pictures of some of your knives.
It's great to see you here at the forums and I hope you will post more pictures of your craftsmanship.
You mentioned in your post that this finishes your last knife with your sponsor. Does this mean we will see more of you now?

Hello Tracy..
Yes I'm free now to do work for other collectors.....But I must tell you, I don't take orders very often and I do pretty much only what I want...this comes with old age I guess.

Great post and great story, Lloyd. I hope, someday, the whole story about the Frazier collection will be told? That would be a great read. Probably with the display of the knives, for sure. As I recall, the article was mostly photos? I'll look it up.

Thanks for the inspiration.

That is just beautiful, utterly rich. I cannot wait to see the Frazier collection. That's going to be a dedicated trip as soon as it's open - a pilgrimage.

I understand about making parts, though I haven't made any knives that way (yet! ). You've been an inspiration to me since I first learned about custom knives in about 1970... I talked about you during all those years you were out of circulation and people would give me blank looks - until I started hauling out old knife books to show them what I was talking about...then you could see a love of knives growing where there was barren ground before. Your work has that effect, you must have turned thousands of people onto knife making, either as collectors or as makers.

Back then I never thought I'd make knives - and now I think I'll never make knives like that... But you got my mind turning over, thinking about parts...

One thing I've learned the last couple of years is that the best knives take the longest, and those are the ones most worth the effort. When I started I thought I'd be happy when I learned enough to trim down my time, but as I did I filled in the time with detail and finish.

There's no end! Thank you Mr Hale for continuing to give me a reason to make stuff.

Dave

Thanks Dave...
I learned 15 years ago how to make curvey parts that like to intermingle with each other but are impossible to make as one piece..I found that if I would make these parts seperately ,right down to a polished finish ...then dove tail all these parts into thier proper place ,it created an interesting effect .... A mig welder is an important part of my shop...as is Iodine and bandaids

That is the most stunning dagger I have seen. I will sleep tonight with that one on my mind. Thanks much for sharing it with us.

I have a knife that is signed in script Hale with a sheath that is branded Hale on the back wondering how I can find out if Mr. Lloyd Hale crafted this knife and can't get image onto this message since I am a newbie on forum. The knife has turquoise, ivory, and rosewood in the handle.

I'm pretty sure he had it sold 16 years ago. Check the dates.
