Hard to tell for sure with only two shots, front & back. It's different alright. Maybe a kitchen knife - Scagel did make a lot of those but this one looks funky to me. The 'banana' blade is much more typical of rudimentary forging skills. Placing pins so close to the ends of the antler scales is also kind of a blunder because of cracking and splitting issues. If that isn't Norh American Whitetail antler then it's a fake for sure (looks like Sambar, but I'm not qualified to make that call). The kris looks too long with one too many curves. The ferrule or spacer or whatever it is would be considered atypical. Other views would reveal whether Scagel's typical convex grind is present or not. Assuming a full tang, pictures of it would be helpful. I mean, for a knife that the seller estimates 7-10K of value, you'd think more views would be in order. Their absence is possibly suspicious, as is the description "Scagel marked" which seems to be vague enough to avoid accusations of intentional false identification. And on and on......... Guess my vote is "No way"! Of course I could be wrong. Even if I am and this is the real thing, the seller's estimated value is way out of line as anybody who watches Scagel knives that sell on eBay can see.

Reminds me of this knife. I think the auction on the Kris was pulled.

Here is another Scagel, supposedly on eBay. Looks rather new to me and only $100 starting bid! Someone better grab it quick!!!!

Heehee. I have often thought of playing that same trick. I have also wondered if someone has bought one thinking it was the real McCoy.
I would not want to start a fight with these guys, but the listing could be read ALL wrong. If you just read the capitalized words, RARE, VERY RARE, SCAGEL, VERY CLEAN, DON'T PASS THIS ONE UP! I'm not sure, but I thought I read that Bill Scagel always put his name on everthing he made, so if Scagel handmade isn't on that knife somewhere, I'd be very cautious!. 8o
