spyderhawk
hi i am from australia, and have just managed to get my hands on a FRN black handled, fully serrated spyderhawk. The handle says "clipit endura" and the blade says "081".
just wondering about the serial numbers and such, and if a knife such as this has any added value(how much its worth), as it seems no one in australia here has a spyderhawk, let alone a low serial numbered one like this anyway. thanks |

I'm answering this if only to close it for record, as I suspect stealthx found the same answers elsewhere months ago.
The Spyderhawk that you have identified is nicknamed the "Endurahawk." As you noted, it is a Spyderhawk, but the handle says Endura. The Spyderhawk borrowed the Endura handle in production. Some slipped out of the factory with the wrong ID badge for the FRN handles -- a manufacturing goof that created a somewhat collectible variation. The number that is etched into the blade is a collector's number. Spyderco has a collector's program for 200 participants. The hawkbill is enjoying somewhat of a resurgence among Spyderco Fans. Recently there has been the release of a Byrd (produced by Spyderco) hawkbill, the Harpy model with smooth/polished carbon fiber scales, the soon-to-be-released Tasman Salt (similar to the Harpy but with H-1 steel & other non-rusting components), and a possible limited run of a larger hawkbill similar to the original Spyderhawk. |
