stabilized wood
Anybody have a good contact for stabilizing fancy woods, etc. ? I have about 20 #s of nice stuff that could use a dose of acrylic. Thanks mucho ! Tim

for you natural material fans out there: you may want to try keeping this "stuff" in a box with a 20 watt light bulb on constantly......cures most of our warpage problems. Another great tip.....try using spray CLEAR lacquer instead of super glue for sealing porous woods. It works great and is one heck of a lot cheaper. Thanks for your help ! Regards, Tim Britton

So far I have had pretty good luck stabilizing my own wood. I buy wood in large pieces and cut it down to handle blocks and slabs myself. So I'm already saving a pretty penny. Then I use the vacuum bell portion of my vacuum casting set-up to do the stabilizing. I have been using Minwax Wood Hardener as my stabilizing agent.
So far I have stabilized Bocota, Zebra Wood and Lace Wood, successfully. Last night I attempted to stabilize some Snake Wood. For such a dense wood I pulled a fair amount of air bubbles out of it. If this keeps on working out, it will end up saving me a ton a money
