problem is on low end models finding one with traffic shaping is next to impossible. Your options are few, get a linux box and shape the traffic, buy a warp/soekris box and put m0n0wall on it or spend the $400+ for a router that does shaping.
I presume this is a cable/dsl connection and not dialup (I hope). Usualy the lower the bandwidth the more apt one machine is to hog the pipe from the other stations. it has a 576kbps braodband connection i would get higher but i cant in my area it would be better because i can see that it is the modem that is being the weakest link here.
but i still am having trouble finding or even being able to do anything with the software. someone has said that i can make my computer a higher priority than the other for usign the internet but i dont know how to do that, any ideas? |
