Talking Got a bone to pick

I couldn't resist a $0.99 auction for a giraff bone from a supply house and I managed to win it for 11 bucks and change. Are there any pointers that I should know before I start cutting this up into handle blanks? How about some advice on staining bone? This bone has aready been professionally cleaned and I'm thinking about using Cutler's cement for sealing it.

Doug,

Bone is pretty much bone so I would think you could do anything with it that you would do with cow or deer bone. Do a search about staining, there have been a bunch of threads on that subject.

I bought a whole giraffe shin bone about 10 years ago. I sliced it up into scales, and sent them to Mike Ludemann at WSSI. He dyed and stabilized it for me, and I have had no problems.
