rust
I put together a kit paring knife, for my wife( who is gorgeous by the way, and takes great dictation) it was my first knife and I dont know what I did to the blade, but it rusts every time in the dishwasher.
What can I do to prevent it rusting ? |

Don't put it in the dishwasher!!!
Seriously, dishwashers are nasty on a knives cutting edge and handle material. I usually just wipe mine off and put it away dry. What steel is it made of? If it is a carbon steel you could use lemon (something acidic) to give the blade a patina. This will tend to work like blueing on a gun. Good Luck! Bob Sigmon |

The more polish on it, the less place water has to set up, so make it as smooth as posible.
Clean by hand and put it up. You might try a protective finish like a gun blueing. No more dishwasher, please. |
