The next meeting will be at Montgomery County Community Collage. On Sat. July 16,
Meeting starts at 8:00 am with the directors meeting.
So far Demo's are :
Continued work on the Quillon Dagger.
Joel Sandifer will be doing a demo on vine file work
There will be a complete knife making demo by 2 members yet to be named.( Names will be drawn at the meeting) You will have 2 hours to make a knife start to finish. Come with your thinking hats on. Knives can be forged or stock removal. Makers Choice. Simple steel 1080 and handle material will be there.
There will be a 1 HR break for lunch.( You are on your own)

Sorry Guys for taking so long to get this posted. Just after the last meeting I blew out 2 disk in my back. Have been flat on my stomach ever since. Going to see the Ortho. Surg. on Tues . Hope they can fix it. Or at least get me where I can walk.

Sorry to hear about your back Andy! Hope the doc gets you fixed up!

Are there any specific guidelines on the knife build? Like the length must be at least x inches long. Or must be a certain type of knife...a hunter or bowie? Building a knife in 2 hours sounds like a fun way to spend a couple hours!! Can't wait to see this!

Thanks Guys for the support. It sucks
Barry, There are no restrictions on the knife. I plan on supplying a 1" X 12" X3/16" or 1/4 " 1080.
I will also supply para cord, and wood scales and blocks. and pin material.
The only rule is a usable knife. This includes Heat-treat.
I'll bring some extra material so maybe we can do 3 or 4. If more want to try it.

Sounds good Andy. It might be better to have at least 1.5" steel for the stock removal guys. I'm sure you could make a usable knife with 1" stock but it would be long and skinny and probably look a little awkard.

True, 1.25 or 1.5 may be better.
You do not have to use the whole piece. As Said size and shape are up to the maker.
Gives you something to think about doesn't it?
