In Fond Memory of Chuck Burrows

I just got the call and was asked to make a few posts on the forums...

Chuck (AkA *Wild Rose*) passed away last Monday. He was a good friend and a great person to work with. We'll miss you brother.

Sad news...

Chuck was good teacher and a credit to the art.

Tai, you and Chuck collaborated on some great projects.

Thank you for letting us know, Tai!

We'll certainly miss Chuck. He was an awesome guy and a credit to the art. He tried to act like he wasn't sick, but I knew he wasn't feeling too good the last time that I spoke with him. I'm sorry to hear this sad news.

Chuck had a style of his own when it came to sheath and holster making. He was good!

Alex

His wife wanted the people that knew him to know. I think there might be some other forums Chuck was on, that I'm not a member of. If anyone knows, please make a post. I posted here and at Knifedogs on the Neo Tribal forum.

I heard over on the Bladesmith's Forum. He will be missed. He told me about a month ago he wasn't long for this world, but I had hoped he had a couple more months in him.

Rest in peace, Chuck.

May God hold his spirit close to His heart. Even though I never had the honor of meeting him I consider him to have been a great teacher.

Here's the notice on Bladeforums including pics showing some of Chuck's work in my post #17:

Tai - it was Chuck who pointed me toward you; a lucky break for me early on. I went to see him in Durango and he showed me this (his hands/your knife):

Been off of here for a few weeks and just saw that Chuck had passed away. He'd been ill for quite some time.

You don't have to look far around here to find some of the beautiful workmanship that he did. His collaborations were amazing.

Those of us who purchased his DVDs got to sample just a bit of the vast knowledge he had on leatherwork. Even guys who had made sheaths for years picked up techniques from Chuck. Chuck, "Old Dad", and Paul Long trained more people that I can count.

But beyond the stuff he sold and posted, Chuck was a terrific guy. There were times that I asked a simple question online and the next thing I knew, Chuck was on the phone talking me through whatever leather problems I was having. He took the time to teach how to do new things and pointed me to the very best sources of information.

Chuck, you will be missed, but the knowledge you passed on will continue for many years into the future.

RIP, Old Friend.
