Super Moon Dirk

This is my first knife in years. Since I finished on the night of the Super Moon, the name was obvious. The blade was ground from some really nice ladder-pattern Damascus that I bought the last time I was in Carbondale, Illinois. (Guess who?)
The grips are mastodon ivory, the very last pieces left from my family's ancestral export house. (We were based in Kiev, dealt in furs, amber, ivory and Siberian diamonds.) Needless to say, it was nerve-wracking checkering the stuff!

Outstanding work. I bet the doing the checkering on that handle got a little hairy; you did a great job of keeping it together. Love the way that you wrapped the hand in brass.

Charles - what a fine creation and the checkering is just right. Appreciate the background too, very different from my own.
Super Moon Dirk... some of us remember the moon's influence.
