bad start to a good wkend

got my new bladesteel friday, looking forward to a great wkwnd in the shop.my wife's new curtains came in too, and would i like to help put them up? hmmmmm, like to babe, but i really oughta get some blades out, we need the money.who am i kidding? my knives are so bad i have to wrap a five dollar bill around the handle of every one i give away, just so's they''ll take it.escaped to the shop, fired up the band-saw, and snap-the blade broke. i reached for the spare, and discovered that WAS the spare.i eyeballed my old hack-saw, covered w/cobwebs. nah, that spider worked his butt off building a home, and i ain't gonna ruin it for him.o.k., o.k. i'm spoiled, and maybe just a tad lazy, too.between a 60 grit belt, my chop saw,and disc grinder(all motor driven) i got it done. ground the blades, ht, and polished. you can bet the farm, i'll order two blades mon morning.oh yeah, the curtains look great.

bad weekend

How can you say you had a bad weekend when you got to play in the shop Tom. The last knife you made has been really nice. You have yourdesigns down pat for good users and all is needed now that you know how to grind a little better is to be your own worst critic. I think that the longer you make knives and know what to look for the longer it takes to make a knife. Like Ed Fowler's article in "Blade" looking for that last scratch!!!! SENT YOU A PM Mike

I understand about the 'that is the spare'. Don't you just hate it when you're to blame for using the last one??? I've got an old harbor freight bandsaw that I use, not pretty just functional. K
