A Christmas gift finally finished
As many of you know, we lost my Dad in August of this year. Mom came to live with us earlier this month, and it will for sure be a difficult Christmas at our house. Hopefully this will brighten her spirits a little.....
Mom loves both Hummingbirds and Butterflies, so I thought what better. The headboard itself wasn't all that difficult, just a lot of plasma cutting. About the most difficult part was the rope border at the top. It consists of 8 feet of 1/4" round stock, twisted, then shaped to fit the top of the headboard. The Hummingbird cutout is raise for a 3D effect with standoffs that I made from 3/8" round stock, then attached with 1/8" rivets. __________________ WWW.CAFFREYKNIVES.NET Caffreyknives@gmail.com "Every CHOICE has a CONSEQUENCE, and all your CONSEQUENCES are a result of your CHOICES." That is truly wonderful Ed, of course Cindy had shown me your book "of secrets". So this doesn't surprise me at all.
I'm glad you got your mother home and settled in, being close will ease the loss somewhat. My best to you and yours over the holiday week. Hopefully I'll catch up with you on Friday. Ed,
The smile on your moms face will help to move on. I know when I build anything for my family members. Just the smile on their faces makes me want to head back to the shop and start another project. God Bless Bing |

Ed, That was awesome! I am glad you have your Mom with you, you have had a tough year but you came through in spades. I hope you had a great Christmas, we did down here in GA. I gave my Father a gentleman's bowie with false frame handle and walrus jawbone slabs, the look on his face was worth it. If I did not know better I think I saw a tear. That is what Christmas is all about. Talk to you soon buddy.

That is a wonderful present. What will mean more to her than how beautiful it is, is the fact that you made it for her. To me there are no better gifts than those that come from the heart. Merry Christmas.

That is a very beautiful headboard although what cannot be seen in the headboard is the best part --- Love. What was your mothers reaction? Brian |
