Yep, not coincidence at all, I found them through Google. I chose those two because one was fairly typical and the other quite extreme (that, plus the fact I've always admired Jerry's knives) ...

Dave, squirrels can be tasty or they can be gamey, depends upon what they have been eating, but munching on bird seed I would guess they would taste good, especially if soaked in Pepsi or in milk. Dove is very good with a coke or pepsi marinade. Dove is usually good by itself and the pepsi is to tenderize it, same as squirrel. If you want something awful try rattlesnake. Does not taste like chicken, more like chickensxxx. Not everything taste like chicken. I tried bear a couple of times and even the dogs wouldn't eat it. Ate some deer in sagebrush country and boy did they taste like sage.

I've been putting some ideas on paper so I thought I'd share. I'm still undecided but I am leaning towards one more than the others. I'm open to conversation about the designs and I know we hardly even started but if I put it off the deadline will pass and I will be scratching my head wondering where the time went. I am a procrastinator but try to change . Lol. I will probably draw up a few more before I cut any steel but here is what I have so far.

Speaking about steel... I have a nice piece of 3/32 O-1 that has bird and trout knife written all over it.

Let me know what you all think.

O1 is fine. As for the design, just think about using the knife inside a game bird or fish. Not a lot of room in there and your hand probably won't get in there very far. So, a longish 4" - 6" narrow blade is a common choice. You can see from one of the examples in the original post that Jerry Hossum tackled this problem with a very small blade on a long thin handle. So, any of your designs could work depending on how you proportioned the knife.

Also, let me remind everyone that we want to emphasize fit and finish on this knife. Not fancy per se, but as perfectly finished as you can make it. That basically means no visible scratches on any part of the knife if you can do it. Hollow grind, if you use one, may have some exception to that but even those scratches can be nicely lined up and minimized ...

I will draw up a couple more with a 2.5 blade and lengthen up the handle a bit... maybe 4.5 to 5" long. I also will see what the blade and handle look like at about .500-.625" wide. I personally wouldn't be looking for a blade longer than a 4". I have used a filleting knife and a hunter to clean trout and perch and the long blade makes it a bit harder to control at the tip. A hunter isn't too bad but they are on the bulky side for the smaller fish. I end up using a paring knife for small game and fish, unless I am filleting them or cutting into steaks, so whatever I make will have a twin to keep for myself.

I don't have a large contact wheel but I have a plan so I will see how it works out. Either way I have maybe a 95% chance that it will be a hollow ground blade. I have never done a hollow grind and this KITH is the perfect kick in my a$$ to go for it.

Been a long time since I've been on here but was very happy to see a B&T KITH. Will only be my second kith to date but my driest one was a blast and look forward to getting in on this one if there is room still. Look forward to seeing everyone's versions of this classic design.
