Ed, (Or others) whats your opinion....

G'day ed, whats your opinion on C frame compared to H frame hydraulic presses. the only reason i ask is because i have come up with a design for a C frame press where the ram is mounted under the dies to create a more compact unit (i will try to get some drawings done and posted on this site for other potential press builders who may be after ideas) the thing is, i like different features of both types. H frame would be more rigid, C frame has easier die access etc. Thanks in advance for your insight.
Cheers

Keetha.

For strength, theres no denying that an "H" frame is about the best way to go. However, I personally like the "C" frame because they tend to be more compact, with more/better access to the die area. I think the biggest consideration for most folks is the amount of room available in the shop..... a well built "H" frame consumes a lot more room than a comparable "C" frame.
