We used to have a Songer named Kyle Cameron that could hit that about two out of three times right handed (his dominant hand) ~~> tossing it right handed, and catching it in the left. Given it's a blind catch with multiple rotations, I'd have to consider it about as tough as anything, but I suppose the ultimate would be to land it tossing with the "Off-Hand" on 9 of 10 attempts. Back when Kyle was goofing around with it, I tried it about 50-60 times with a "Pacific Style" cheapo, and caught it [once].., simple buy luck. I tried it kneeling.., on a Futon bed, and just put a thick blanket over my calves to avoid impalement... It's a tough one for sure, and I'm guessing it would take quite a while to hit it with consistency. Obviously a lighter knife (like a 42) would be best to avoid any deep boo-boos. __________________ Pete Johnston ~~> ExamonLyf@aol.com "There is no greater wisdom.., than [KINDNESS]" "Hunters seek what they [WANT].., Seekers hunt what they [NEED]" |

One of two things would happen. Either the 49 would be ruined with the delicate edge geometry.., or amputation!! I suppose that's what "Legends" are born of though... .... I'll work on the over back aerials, then i'll perform it with a 49 when i get one, and i promise i wont be wearing a hard hat.
How about something really advanced not involving aerials. As far as 3 balis in one hand, thats not possible is it? I have tried juggling 3 balis, and i can do it. Still need to work on it. Oh, the balis were in the open position tough. arampapik |

Probably 8sinners 8ball is the hardest move out there not involving an aerial.

Behind the back aerials are definately at the top. But for non-aerial moves, zero finger helicopters are pretty tough (The Zen-Copter ). It can be done with a slightly curled palm and feels... well, it feels strange when you can keep it up for more than 5 seconds. But it's a great technique to learn that will help with dozens of other moves when it's "mastered".
And I bet you could manipulate 3 balis with one hand pretty easy... if you taped the handles together. 8o __________________ Rev. Dave "Blasto" Fettig TheBlasto.com - Good times Email Blasto - Times equally as good |

I never tried it until I saw you mention it a while back.., but you do it with a 42 right?? I can do it with an SS Handled Korth Model 2...(oddly enough???).., maybe because I'm more used to the weight, but not consistently for 5 seconds. I had more trouble trying it with a 42 ~~> the "Copter-Handle" keeps getting out-out-plane on me.., tough move! __________________ Pete Johnston ~~> ExamonLyf@aol.com "There is no greater wisdom.., than [KINDNESS]" "Hunters seek what they [WANT].., Seekers hunt what they [NEED]" |

I'm not doubting you have the sacks to try it.. .., but it's simply not worth ruining a very collectible knife that can later be part of the "College Fund" for your future kids! I'm sure you've seen the 49 and know it's sharp all over, but that's really not the worst part (although not to be discounted)... 8o ~~> the blade stock is .125.., with a zero-bevel edge.., meaning you're basically tossing a scalpel and trying to catch it blind. In perfect honesty, I think you'd ruin the edge and actually crack the blade stock with the misses before you'd get seriously cut, but neither of those results is a good thing given how much a 49 costs ~~> and the prices are going up since they are long gone! Heck I'd be impressed to see someone that could hit that move tossing it with either hand everytime with a trainer. It would take a ton of practice to make clean catches on every attempt. If by chance you are insane enough to want to do it with a 49.., I'd certainly suggest the 49-04, or 49-05, rather than the others (and lots of practice with a trainer first). At least the have very light handles and may leave you a couple of fingers for scatching itchy places cause they won't bite so hard... With the SPL, -01, -02, -03.., were're talkin' typing with your feet Aram. Those guys would generate lots of inertia being in flight that long and they weigh quite a bit more because they are not Ti-Handles. __________________ Pete Johnston ~~> ExamonLyf@aol.com "There is no greater wisdom.., than [KINDNESS]" "Hunters seek what they [WANT].., Seekers hunt what they [NEED]" Last edited by ExamonLyf; 07-19-2004 at 08:31 PM. |

I'm almost afraid of ever owning a 49....I know I'd be tempted to flip it and I'd most likely hurt myself badly in the process.
Heath...I'd say that your 9-Ball is more difficult than the 8-Ball. Or that may just be because I'm not even close to doing the 9-Ball yet... __________________ Bali haiku: Whirling balisong Handles flying through the air Ouch! I cut myself |
